I’ve been blogging for two years now and have “met” a variety of incredible people along the way. I find fellow bloggers by following certain tags on WordPress like travel and adventure to see what others are up to around the world.
It wasn’t until I made it all the way to Japan that I actually had the opportunity to meet one of the bloggers who I’ve been following.
J runs a blog called Tegalong which I had come across by following the tag Okinawa. Originally from Southern California, she and her husband moved to Okinawa last year. When she saw through my blog that I was going to be in Okinawa, she reached out to me to not only welcome me but to say she’d love to hang out!
It worked out perfectly, as Vince had to work a few of the days during my visit. J and her husband picked me up one day and we went to The Nakamura House, an 18th-century wealthy farmer’s house.
We walked around the premises, which didn’t take very long, and then made our way back to the main entrance where we were served tea and some sort of jelly that tasted like molasses.
J had heard about a great donut spot in Naha, so we made our way there next!
Ball Donut Park was DELICIOUS. There were so many options — I got the lemon sugar donuts with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! The donuts were nice and crispy on the outside, and soft and warm on the inside. AKA perfect. I wish I had this bowl in front of me right now.
J and her husband were so nice and I’m lucky to have had them to show me some spots I wouldn’t have seen otherwise! After our donut excursion, we ended up at a sushi go round and then went to a nearby pet store to marvel at the pups and kittens. A wonderful day indeed!
Thanks a bunch to The Tegs for reaching out and making me feel so welcomed!
Spread kindness and cheer, xo
Jackie
