Happy National Lucky Penny Day!
Who doesn’t love a good superstition? The Trevi Fountain opened in 1762 and has since been a must-see spot for those venturing to Rome.
The precise legend of the Trevi Fountain says you should stand with your back to the fountain and toss a coin over your left shoulder to guarantee a return trip to Rome.
As “luck” would have it, I got horrible food poisoning hours after tossing my penny in February 2016. So, I really have no interest in heading back to Rome. An experience like that just taints all memories — non bene 😦
The good news? An Italian charity says nearly $1.5 million dollars in small change was thrown into Rome’s Trevi fountain in 2016.
At least something positive came of my penny.
Spread kindness and cheer, xo
