If you’re anything like me, you love to curl up with a good book in hand and a nice cuppa hot chocolate – oh, it’s still Summer? Well, how about a frozen hot chocolate then…
Below are the 5 best cities – in my opinion – for my fellow word nerds!
Ok, I may be biased since I went to college in Boston…but it really is a wonderful city for all you book lovers! Boston Public Library’s Reading Room is reason enough…
Open to the public, this reading room is a great place to get both studying and leisure reading done! Boston is also peppered with adorable independent bookstores! My favorite happens to be Trident Booksellers & Cafe on Newbury Street – not only are the books great, but the food is FANTASTIC.
New York City
Again, I may be biased as NY is my home but…there are so many great independent bookshops in the city that never sleeps! And I’m not just talking about Strand! From Three Lives & Company and Book Culture, to Bluestockings and McNally Jackson, there are so many little nooks to get lost in!! Not to mention the GORGEOUS NY Public Library…
Fun Fact: During the 1930s, Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia named the lions outside of the NYPL Patience and Fortitude, for the qualities he felt New Yorkers would need to survive the economic depression.
Ah, Paris! J’adore Paris! Violette & Co., Shakespeare and Company, and Le Gai Rossignol are just some of the many adorable shops found in the city of love.
Prenez un croissant, trouvez une librairie et faites-vous chez vous à Paris!
Did you know Hong Kong is home to the most bookstores per people? They have 21 bookshops per 100,000 people compared to NYC’s 10 per 100,000!
If you’re a book lover and you find yourself in Hong Kong, be sure to check out these must-visit bookshops, including The Book Attic!
Indeed, I’ve saved the best for last! Scotland is not only a beautiful country, it is home to a charming city called Wigtown. With a population of about 1,000 people, Wigtown is well known as “Scotland’s National Book Town” with a high concentration of second-hand book shops. Not only that, but Wigtown is home to this INCREDIBLE Airbnb (at which I will someday stay)!
Nestled into the pristine lowlands, The Open Book is a charming bookshop with apartment above in the heart of Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town. Live your dream of having your very own bookshop by the sea in Scotland…for a week or two.
I’m in love with Wigtown – I literally SQUEALED when I found out about this Airbnb. I cannot wait to stay at The Open Book one day!!
