Two Truths and a Lie

Two Truths and a Lie

I cannot believe it’s already May. I feel like I say this every year with each passing month, but seriously time seems to be flying! Three months ago today I was off to Iceland of all places! Now, I’m back working in NYC and I’m actually loving my job. Like…I’m not dreading going back to work tomorrow. It’s truly a beautiful thing haha-

Anyways, one of my first “assignments” at work was to come up with two truths and a lie…you see, each Thursday the company introduces new hires to the office and every new hire has to say two truths and a lie.

When it was my turn I said:

  1. Last summer I hitchhiked around Canada.
  2. Though I’m a native New Yorker, my true dream is to open a senior pet sanctuary on a farm somewhere.
  3. Both of my parents have a twin, but I’m an only child.

If you’ve read my blog enough, I’m sure you know the lie — but if not, take a guess in the comments below!

Cheers to 2016

Cheers to 2016

2015 was an amazing year, but not without my fair share of ups and downs. I quit my job at a major news network, moved back home and literally had no idea what was next.

Newsflash: Still don’t know what I’m doing career-wise. Currently considering becoming a flight attendant. We’ll see…

…BUT I ate tons of delicious food, traveled a bunch and met tons of cool folks in 2015! Did I mention I met my idol, the silver fox himself, ANDERSON COOPER?

I’ve been getting work through a temp agency in NYC which has sustained me thus far along with my freelance writing/transcription work so that’s been goooood.

Now I’m gearing up for my next adventure — Rapetti Review is off to Europe!

I booked this trip back in September and I can’t believe Feb. 1 is so near…time seriously flies faster and faster with each given year. It freaks me out. Anyways…

I’m going with my best friend from college, Tyler, who is coincidentally the same gal who managed to get me to road trip to VA on a whim this past summer to see Dave Matthews Band.

We’re so super excited for our adventure to Europe! We’ll be there for a total of 3 weeks and our travels will take us to the following cities:

Reykjavik, Iceland

Barcelona, Spain

Rome, Italy

Paris, France

AH! I can’t wait. If you’ve been to these places, I totally welcome any and ALL recommendations! Give me the inside scoop, y’all!

I wish you all tons of happiness and adventure in 2016 and hope that this world gains more joy and cheer!

Surviving Hitchhiking

Surviving Hitchhiking

From New York to San Francisco to Seattle to Portland to Vancouver to Whistler back to Vancouver to…Salt Spring Island!IMG_3446 I’m currently sitting in a room with a view of the water thanks to Airbnb, eating Cadbury Mini Eggs because they’re available YEAR ROUND here in Canadaland. The Canadians know what’s up.

It’s Palu!

After a few ridiculous nights out in Vancouver, I’m happy to rest up on a [super] small town island for a few days. A three hour ferry ride from Vancouver, Salt Spring has roughly just 10,000 folks living here. I’m here with Michelle, who I met through the other awesome Australians in Seattle (same group I ventured to Vancouver/Whistler to hang with); The guys went off to go camping in Banff.

My trip to “the future” via Palu’s crazy invention.

The El Loco Taco food truck here in Salt Spring was our first stop to grab a bite to eat – the fish taco was actually super delicious. We wandered around a bit and ended up meeting a quirky guy, Palu, who invented what he calls the eighth wonder of the world.” Turns out the guy is legit and even appeared on The Dragons’ Den (the Canadian version of Shark Tank). He demonstrated his Solar Meditation Bow on both Michelle and I and it actually worked, creating a kaleidoscope sensation as you face the sun (eyes closed)!

Hitching in Salt Spring.

A bit more wandering led us to a small shop and a lovely woman named Anne who was kind enough to give us some recommendations of what to do while we’re here. She told us it’s really common to hitchhike around the island and that it’d probably be our best bet in terms of getting around.

So…Michelle and I gave it a go! After much laughter, many rejections and a guy who just sat in his car eating raspberries as he watched us failing, we got a ride from a fellow named Scott who was kind enough to not be a serial killer. Yay!

Definitely looking forward to exploring this island further before heading to the capital of British Columbia, Victoria.
