Monday Musings

Monday Musings

Over a year ago I wrote this piece for my blog. I was gearing up for a new adventure and couldn’t have been more excited. It’s amazing how life changes in 365 days. To think it was only last June that I was wandering around San Francisco, by myself, enjoying ice cream (the best ever) in Dolores Park. I was single, unemployed and gave zero fucks. I was on an ADVENTURRREEEE and loving every single second of it.

It honestly feels like yesterday.

I remember so vividly staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel, wandering around Pike’s Place Market with my new travel buddies and meeting back up with newfound friends in Vancouver. It was such an invigorating few weeks that I’ll always be able to look back on with smiles and laughter.

And that’s why I love to travel.

I strive to live a life rich with memories and moments, small and large. I love looking back on photos and journals detailing my crazy adventures — those mean more to me than any other material possession.

Making friends in Seattle!

Now, I’m back to work in NYC and I’m in a long distance relationship! You’d think I was in a relationship with some guy I met during my travels, right? Nope. Someone I met SIX May’s ago at a summer job and reconnected with after my adventure last summer. And now I know what being in love truly feels like and it’s all the clichés I could’ve ever dreamed of and more.

GOALS.

Long distance is rough and it’s something I honestly never thought I’d be down for. But when it’s love and it’s real, it’s worth it and the distance isn’t even a factor, it’s just a hump to get through. (Military boys, amiright?)

ANYWAYS – wishing you all a fantastic week! Hope the weather is warm and sunny wherever you are 🙂

Two Truths and a Lie

Two Truths and a Lie

I cannot believe it’s already May. I feel like I say this every year with each passing month, but seriously time seems to be flying! Three months ago today I was off to Iceland of all places! Now, I’m back working in NYC and I’m actually loving my job. Like…I’m not dreading going back to work tomorrow. It’s truly a beautiful thing haha-

Anyways, one of my first “assignments” at work was to come up with two truths and a lie…you see, each Thursday the company introduces new hires to the office and every new hire has to say two truths and a lie.

When it was my turn I said:

  1. Last summer I hitchhiked around Canada.
  2. Though I’m a native New Yorker, my true dream is to open a senior pet sanctuary on a farm somewhere.
  3. Both of my parents have a twin, but I’m an only child.

If you’ve read my blog enough, I’m sure you know the lie — but if not, take a guess in the comments below!

A New Journey

A New Journey

A quick poem inspired by the new job I start tomorrow…and a look back on where I’ve been these past few years!

A life no longer measured by school bells,

fresh notebooks, shoes and pens.

But by the working days and hours,

again, again, again.

Memories all jumbled,

months flow into years.

The pursuit of love and happiness,

drizzled by loss and tears.

But with growth comes opportunity,

and the chance to start anew.

A journey to embrace,

a journey to pursue.

That time I interned at NBC Nightly News (2012) and got to film a demo tape:

And then all the interns got to grab a photo with then anchor, Brian Williams:

That time my school thought I was the poster child for Journalism co-ops (this is still the current pic on the site ahhahah):

That time I graduated (2013) and decided to make my cap look like a ransom note:

And then I landed a job at ABC News, Nightline after graduating (2013-2014):

And then I decided to work at NBC Nightly News again for a bit (“a bit” = three months, 2014-2015)…

and then I said, f-that-shit, I’m going to temp and travel the world instead:

I graduated from Northeastern nearly three years ago and I’ve been able to have some really incredible experiences since then.

Looking forward to this next chapter; hope you’ll join me along the way!

A Look Back at London

A Look Back at London

In July of 2013 I was off to London to study abroad for a month as a part of Northeastern University’s Dialogue of Civilizations program. I wasn’t blogging back at that point, so I figured I’d share some snapshots from my time there with y’all.

Photos below are a mix from London, Bath and Stonehenge.

Got to see my main man, JT, at London’s Wireless Festival. He was incredible, as always.

Thursday Thoughts

Thursday Thoughts

Ice cream, sunshine and hanging out with the pup was all I had on my agenda today…pretty sweet, eh?

IMG_5264

This time next week I’ll be back in the working world, among all the hustle and bustle of NYC. It’s definitely going to be a change of pace, but I’m looking forward to it. After all, I do need a consistent paycheck if I want to move out to a nice little place of my own. Ahh, what a day that’ll be. One thing at a time though, right?

Now that I’ll be commuting again, I’m going to have plentyyyy of time to consume books left and right. Soooo…I’m looking for YOUR SUGGESTIONS! Holler at me in the comments below if you know of a fantastic book I should read.

Also, can we all just talk about how perfect this library is? Maybe a different rug but…#GOALS
