Thursday Thoughts

Thursday Thoughts

Ice cream, sunshine and hanging out with the pup was all I had on my agenda today…pretty sweet, eh?

This time next week I’ll be back in the working world, among all the hustle and bustle of NYC. It’s definitely going to be a change of pace, but I’m looking forward to it. After all, I do need a consistent paycheck if I want to move out to a nice little place of my own. Ahh, what a day that’ll be. One thing at a time though, right?

Now that I’ll be commuting again, I’m going to have plentyyyy of time to consume books left and right. Soooo…I’m looking for YOUR SUGGESTIONS! Holler at me in the comments below if you know of a fantastic book I should read.

Also, can we all just talk about how perfect this library is? Maybe a different rug but…#GOALS

Working Gal

Working Gal

Happy Tuesday, y’all! Good news: I got a job! Woooooo!

giphy

After spending this past year alternating between temping and traveling around, I’m happy to have found a job in a creative environment in the city I love most: New York. Though I’ve had real jobs working at ABC and NBC in the past, this really feels like my first REAL job. I’ve never had a salary or benefits or any of that good stuff; broadcast news was always technically freelance and hourly…no bueno.

Oh, and another amazingly awesome perk of this job? UNLIMITED VACATION! Obviously not to be abused, but at least I can count on getting my fair share of traveling time in! Yayayyayay!

More fun news for today – I’ve been asked to write for a site called Tiplr. For all you adventure seekers and foodies, it’s a great site to get tips from locals in various cities around the world. Check out my first post — here.

That’s all for today folks –

Word Nerd Wednesday

Word Nerd Wednesday

There are few things I love more than curling up with a good book. One of my goals in life is to have my very own adorable home library — like this lovely one I just found on Google.

One day. Anyways, I figured I’d share with y’all what I’m reading each Wednesday. I’m making it a thing. Last night I read this book (see below) in its entirety. It’s crazy weird and funny and such a page-turner, I can’t help but recommend it. Buy it, love it and let me know what you think.

A Sunday Kind Of Love

A Sunday Kind Of Love

Ah, my first weekend back in NY has certainly made me realize how much I love this city. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. But seriously. As much as I love, love, LOVE, traveling and exploring new places, nothing matches the adoration I have for the city that never sleeps.

I often say that I’d love to drop everything and move to a new city; maybe experience life in a small town for a bit… and then I fall in love with NY all over again and feel that there’s no place I’d rather be. I’m spoiled by the 24/7 everything and authentic cuisine from all over the world. I was really excited to eat an ‘authentic’ pain au chocolat in Paris and of all the ones I’ve tried I can say I’ve had better in NYC. Same goes for hot chocolate…not even the French can top City Bakery’s pure chocolate heaven-in-a-cup (I totally plan on going there tomorrow and grabbing some).

This past weekend I finally got to hang with my best friend Monica, as seen here, for the first time since I left for my European adventure. We trekked from Astoria to Brooklyn for the most delicious BBQ in all of the land (within the five boroughs at least) — Dinosaur Bar-B-Que!

Alas, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we couldn’t even touch the brisket sandwich we ordered after our nachos, ribs, mac and cheese, etc. We ended up giving away the sandwich to some guys waiting ahead of us in line for a bar on the Lower East Side. And people say New Yorkers aren’t nice…

We ended up ditching that line to head uptown (to Session 73) to meet with some other friends; lots of laughs and dancing, it was a great time.

Tomorrow is LEAP DAY (!!!) and I have a few meetings with recruiters so I can get back in the working world and earn some $$$.
